Arkansas Appleseed’s mission is to increase justice and opportunity for all Arkansans by developing and advancing inclusive, collective, and systemic solutions to complex issues.

Arkansas Appleseed advances its mission by addressing systemic barriers to justice at their root and providing solutions through research, public education, community building and organizing, policy advocacy, impact litigation, and pro bono engagement.

As a non-partisan, independent voice, Arkansas Appleseed seeks to bring together the resources and expertise of community members, leaders, businesses, organizations, and advocates.

We are a proud affiliate of the Appleseed Network, a group of 18 justice centers across the United States and Mexico working together to strengthen democracy and address pressing challenges such as poverty and discrimination.

Our name comes from the Appleseed Network’s founding vision from the Harvard Law School Class of 1958: “to plant a seed” of nonprofit law centers for public service that took on problems at their root. Arkansas Appleseed is the second-newest center in the Network, recently joined by Oklahoma.

Through the Network, we both contribute to and benefit from multi-state strategies. We believe Arkansas has much to offer other centers, just as we want to learn from promising practices in other states. We are stronger together!
